The awakening of Chyou
Chyou had always been a busy soul. The constant hum of city life, the never-ending to-do lists, and the pressure to keep up with everyone around her had left her feeling lost, like she was running on a treadmill that never stopped. There were moments when she longed for quiet, for a space where her mind could slow down and her heart could breathe.
One evening, while walking around the Queen’s Park Savannah, Chyou noticed an older woman sitting on a bench, eyes closed, her face serene. The woman’s peaceful aura intrigued Chyou, and she decided to approach.
"Hi…How can you stay so calm?" Chyou asked, her voice tinged with curiosity.
The woman smiled gently, her eyes still closed. "I meditate," she replied softly. "It helps me connect with the world around me, and most importantly with myself."
Chyou, always searching for peace but unsure where to find it, decided to try meditation for herself. She found a quiet spot in the nearby Botanical Gardens the next day, sat on the grass under the shade of a tree, and closed her eyes, mimicking the woman’s stillness. At first, her thoughts raced with the usual scenes of work, friends, worries, each one like a wave crashing in her mind.
But instead of fighting them, she gently acknowledged each thought and let it pass, like clouds drifting across a sky. Slowly, Chyou began to focus on her breath, the rise and fall, the rhythm of life itself. The air felt fresher, and for the first time in a long while, she allowed herself to just be.
Days turned into weeks, and Chyou made meditation a regular part of her life. Each time she sat still, her connection to the world deepened. The chaos of daily life no longer felt so overwhelming. She could pause, breathe, and realign with the world around her. Nature, once something she only passed by in the rush of her schedule, became a place where she could ground herself.
Chyou learned that true peace wasn’t something she could find by running faster or doing more, it was something she could discover by simply being, by listening, and by reconnecting with her own soul and the world that had always been there.
With each breath, Chyou grew more present, more grounded, and most importantly, more at peace with herself. She had finally found the stillness she had been searching for, not in the rush of life, but in the quiet moments of reflection and connection.
